Alena Thomas is the CEO and Founder of Lever’d. She leads all aspects of strategy, product development, and operations, and maintains a hands-on approach to all customer interactions.

 

She has deep expertise advising public and private companies, private equity firms, and lenders on complex financing matters. Her extensive experience includes over $32 billion of closed transactions.

 

Most recently, Alena was a senior attorney at Debevoise & Plimpton with prior stints at Kirkland & Ellis and Latham & Watkins. In these roles, she advised on some of the biggest and most complex deals across acquisition financings, debt restructurings, cross-border transactions, and liability management over a range of industries and financing structures, including first-lien, second-lien, unitranche, asset-based, back-leverage, and high-yield. Before private practice, Alena was in-house at Millennium Management, a large global hedge fund, where she played an integral role in overhauling their compliance framework in a period of rapid growth. Alena has been awarded additional appointments along her career, including to the Associates Committee of Kirkland & Ellis and Corporate Secretary of a Millennium operating entity (their youngest officer to-date).

 

Alena’s unique background enables her to collaborate effectively with a wide range of individuals and offer innovative solutions from various perspectives. Originally from Sydney, Alena grew up in Amsterdam and began her career in London, later advancing it in New York. Alena earned a Bachelor of Laws (honors) degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science and is a New York licensed attorney.
